MTC-601 SYLLABUS
"NWC Product Realization Process & Technical Business Practices"

Application:           Personnel (staff and management) who need an in-depth understanding of the Product Realization Process and the Technical Business Practices.

Prerequisites:        Approval of the instructor

Structure:              Training is three days in length, consisting of three, seven-hour sessions.

Description:           Presents the DOE-accepted methods of controlling the build configuration of NWC weapon and weapon related product through the product realization process.  This course educates participants in the rules, guidelines, and best practices defined in the NWC Technical Business Practices (TBPs) that are used to translate initial DOD and DOE requirements into a creditable stockpile weapon.  Following are the primary training topics:

  • Product Realization Process (TBP-PRP)

  • Program Management (TBP-000 Series)

  • Concurrent Qualification (TBP-100 Series)

  • Product Identification and Traceability (TBP-200 Series)

  • Product Definition (TBP-300 Series)

  • Design Control (TBP-400 Series)

  • Records Management (TBP-500 Series)

  • Procurement (TBP-600 Series)

  • Product Acceptance and Control of Nonconformance (TBP-700 Series)

  • Stockpile Management (TBP-800 Series)

  • Nuclear Explosive Weapon Safety (Active NWC Practices)

Objectives:          Upon completion of the training, the student will be able to:

  • Identify and apply appropriate configuration control requirements for projects utilizing any NWC supplier.

  • Effect product milestone peg points in the appropriate product realization process step.

  • Manage the design, fabrication, acceptance, and warranty of product and process throughout the PRP life cycle.

Requirements:       Attendance and participation in all class activities, i.e., completion of Pre-Class & Post Class Course Material Tests, and the completion of the Student Course Evaluation.
